Luke fon Fabre is the only son of Duke Fabre, a noble from the kingdom of Kimlasca-Lanvaldear. He is 17 years old and the next in line for the throne. Luke is a rather arrogant and selfish boy. When he was 10 years old, he was kidnapped by the enemy nation of Malkuth. The trauma of the event left Luke with no memory of the first 10 years of his life. Because of his kidnapping, he has been locked in his home for his own safety, and thus knows nothing of the outside world. Being of noble status, he has been waited on hand and foot for the 7 years of his life that he can remember, and has thus grown up a rich, spoiled brat. Luke suffers from random headaches and hallucinations of a mysterious voice in his head. No one knows why he gets these headaches, but these combined with his boredom of being locked up, make Luke's days very monotonous. The only things that keep Luke sane are his sword training exercises with his teacher, Van Grants, writing in his diary, and his friendship with his servant, Guy Cecil.

One day, during sword practice, a mysterious girl shows up and attacks Van. Luke gets angry and swings at the girl. When they touch, a strange resonance occurs between them and they are transported to the enemy nation of Malkuth. After this, Luke works with the girl, whose name is Tear, and tries desperately to get home. Not knowing about the outside world, he is easily irritated and in turn irritates those around him. Luke soon meets the Colonel Jade Curtiss of Malkuth, who asks for Luke's help as a noble in stopping a war between Malkuth and Kimlasca-Lanvaldear. Luke's journey home to stop the war soon escalates into a much more urgent journey to save his planet. Along the way, he learns a lot about himself that he would rather not know.

Luke is not the REAL Luke fon Fabre. He is a replica that was created 7 years ago. The real Luke is a God-General named Asch. Luke is easily manipulated and controlled by Asch due to him being a replica. The mysterious voice Luke often hears can also control his body at will.

He also has a very strange power called hyperresonance. This power can destroy or create any matter in Luke's world, and Luke is the only person that can cause a hyperresonance on his own, other than his original. This power is very dangerous, due to Luke's weak control over it. He even ends up destroying a whole town with it, which doesn't due wonders for his psyche or his reputation. (I was hoping to play Luke from after the Akzeriuth incident… so the short haired version :D)

Luke is a pretty selfish and mean person at the beginning of the game. He expects everyone to do as he says and if very ignorant and rude. He is easily angered and ends up making several people mad at him. Also, he has almost an obsession with gaining the approval of his teacher, Master Van. Van is pretty much the only person Luke really trusts until the Akzeriuth incident. He is rather childish and runs from a lot of his problems. For example, when he ends up destroying Akzeriuth, he blames everyone around him except for himself. He aggravates all of his comrades, and they end up leaving his behind. After much sole searching, Luke decides to try and change. He cuts his long, red hair as a symbol of leaving behind his old self and asks that his comrades help him become a better person. He takes his mission seriously and tries to learn about the world around him instead of blowing it off. Luke asks for his friend's advice often and thanks them for their help, which is something he never did before. Luke is a bit clumsy and awkward now, because he is afraid to make more mistakes. But he slowly but surely starts to become the hero he is meant to be. Now knowing that Van used him, and that he is only a replica, Luke’s trust in his master has broken completely. Also the boy often falls into bouts of depression and self doubt that take a long time to fix.
